Micro KEYER II Features & Functions
Figure 1: microKEYER II block diagram
- No serial or parallel port required:
- just one USB cable between your computer and microKEYER II
- Complete "Computer Radio" electrical isolation
- transformer isolation between sound circuits and radio - optical isolation between USB port and of ALL digital signals: Radio Control, CW, PTT, FSK, PA PTT, & LNA PTT
- Standard Sound Device - no custom drivers:
The microHAM CODEC is an industry standard device recognized by Windows, Apple OS 10 and LINUX. There are no custom device drivers to install and no compatibility problems with your favorite applications.
- Ultra low noise:
- The sound circuits are designed with special attention to low noise - The receive noise floor in microKEYER II is lower than any value priced sound card or similar amateur product. - Dynamic range rivals that of professional products. - Special circuit design maintains full dynamic range and low noise floor with all radios - both high level and low level outputs.
- Compatible with most standard Windows software
- special microHAM USB Device Router creates as many virtual COM ports as needed to function fully with your favorite programs - customizable presets allow instantly changing configuration when switching programs
- Integrated control port for all radios: CI-V, FIF-232, IF-232, RS-232

- programmable PTT activation delay in 1ms steps - selectable muting of CW and/or FSK when footswitch is closed
- Hot Switch protection with user defined timing
- Transceiver PTT input for hotswitch free VOX operation - T/R sequencer for PTT keying outputs
- Strong immunity from RFI
- integrated chokes and filters for best RFI immunity - advanced shielding and circuit design to suppress RFI generation
- Input/Output connectors
Computer: USB, Radio: DC37, 3.5 mm & RCA, Paddle: 6.2 mm Microphone: RJ-45 and 3.5 mm(1/8"), Footswitch: RCA PS/2: MiniDIN6, iLink: MiniDIN6, Footswitch: RCA, PA PTT: RCA
- Metal/Aluminum case, powder coated and silk screened
- Free firmware/software upgrades via internet
Note:
microKEYER II™ is a hardware product - it "fully supports" a radio when microHAM releases a cable set designed to interface microKEYER to the specific input/output requirements of a supported transceiver. Due to differences in features and control protocols among transceivers, the support software (microHAM USB Device Router) may not implement decoding of operating mode and/or frequency, automatic selection of mode, frequency/mode dependent configurations, and/or FSK for all supported radios.
Automatic selection of frequency/mode dependent configurations is a user interface enhancement. The ability of microHAM USB Device Router to provide automatic selection of operating configuration does not mean that a specific transceiver is, or is not, supported.
